"Balada Sepasang Kekasih Gila offers a poetic and unusual narrative told from a child’s perspective, portraying love through the lens of two outcasts considered mentally ill. While the film carries strong symbolic and psychological undertones, its inconsistent character backstories, unexplained mental conditions, and contradictory religious elements weaken its narrative foundation. Despite strong performances from Denny Sumargo and debutant Sara Fajira, the film falls short of fully realizing its emotional and philosophical potential.
