""Welcome Home" has an emotionally charged and magnificently well explored dilemma at its heart. Jake has been dead for 17 years, but when the military make the shocking discovery that he is very much alive this awkward revelation creates a problem for the United States army. Jake is initially kept under wraps, but when the possiblity is discovered that it could in fact be a case of mistaken identity the suspicion now arises that the military is fully aware of the whereabouts of many other Vietnam veterans - this fact is obviously not something they are prepared to publicly acknowledge due to the potential for an explosive and extremely damaging scandal - and what all this amounts to from this perfectly crafted character-driven drama is an exemplary and unjustly forgotten film."
