Storyline

A film portrait of Henryk Tomaszewski, one of the greatest poster artists, an outstanding graphic designer, illustrator and educator, co-founder of the school of Polish poster art. He was born in 1914 in Warsaw and died in 2005. Before the war he graduated from the School of Graphic Industry and studied painting at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts. He was involved in poster art since 1936. He collaborated with the satirical weekly "Szpilki", printed drawings in the Lublin satirical weekly "StaΕ„czyk", and designed scenery for the Warsaw theater "Syrena". In the early 1950s he became a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts. He educated dozens of graphic artists and poster designers who are famous today. In the film, the protagonist talks about the beginnings of poster art in Poland, his pedagogical work and artistic career. Archival materials were used during the production, and the artist's statements are illustrated with his posters and drawings.
